Service represents one of Alpha Phi's six core values. As such, Alpha Phi chapters host a variety of service opportunities in the local community to encourage their members to give back. The specific types of opportunities a chapter offers its members vary based upon the needs of the local community and the interests and passions of the chapter members. Our chapters' service events include opportunities in the following four branches of Alpha Phi Cares: Heart Health Awareness, Ivy Green Initiative, Frances E. Willard Day of Service and Community Support. In the 2013-2014 school year our chapters reported that they completed 164,549 hours of community service!

Alpha Phi cares about heart health...
Heart Health Awareness. In support of our philanthropic focus to improve women's heart health, chapters are encouraged to extend that mission to their campuses, providing education on heart health and promoting heart healthy activities. Chapters often choose to hold these activities during Heart Health Awareness Month (February), but because women's heart health is a key focus for the Fraternity it is a priority all year. Example projects range from free Zumba classes and heart healthy snack giveaways to awareness campaigns and tabling.

Alpha Phi cares about the environment...
Ivy Green Initiative. Alpha Phi chapters are active participants in campus and community efforts to promote environmental awareness and sustainability. Chapters participate in projects that contribute to leaving their community and their world a better place than they found it. Example projects range from beach/lake/park cleanups to recycling and energy saving programs.

Alpha Phi cares about women...
Frances E. Willard Day of Service. Each year during Women's History Month (March), chapters are encouraged to plan a day of service that is focused on addressing women's issues and supporting women in their community. Named for Alpha Phi's first alumna initiate - Frances E. Willard, an esteemed women's rights activist, this service day provides members a broader awareness of how they can extend Alpha Phi's principle of Watchcare to other women in need.

Alpha Phi cares about helping our communities...
Community Support. Alpha Phi  chapters invest in their local communities, building relationship and helping to support local organizations that provide services to those in need. Chapters participate in a variety of service related projects that help make a positive impact on their community, range from family services and hunger, to wellness and youth education. Example projects include hosting a clothing drive, spending time at a nursing home, visiting a children's hospital or serving a meal at a homeless shelter.
