Alpha Phi has received an invitation to colonize at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Mass. The invitation was extended from the WPI Panhellenic Association on October, 4, 2010, and was accepted by the Alpha Phi extension team after a unanimous positive vote from Alpha Phi's International Executive Board. Alpha Phi will be joining the WPI fraternity and sorority campus community in winter 2011, and upon installation the colony will become Alpha Phi's Iota Omicron chapter.
Lillian Clark, WPI Panhellenic President stated, "with the growing number of women on campus, there has also been increasing interest in Greek life over the past few years. The addition of this sorority will give more women the opportunity to benefit from Greek life during their undergraduate career. The Panhellenic community is eager and excited to welcome Alpha Phi to WPI!"
Founded in Worcester, Mass., in 1865, WPI was one of the nation's earliest technological universities. Alpha Phi will be joining a continuous 120 year tradition of brotherhood and sisterhood at WPI. Currently WPI has 3 sororities, 13 fraternities, and one interest group on campus making up over 30% of the student population. More information on WPI can be found at http://www.wpi.edu/
