In March 2014, Alpha Phi International Fraternity celebrated
the installation of the Iota Upsilon chapter at University of Ottawa and the
re-installation of the Delta Tau chapter at Louisiana State University.
In June 2012, Alpha Phi was invited to recolonize at LSU.
The installation weekend kicked off on Friday, March 21, 2014, with the Court
of Ivy ceremony at the Kappa Delta chapter room, followed by a reception for
Delta Taus hosted by Alpha Phi Foundation at The Club at Union Square. The
initiation ceremony took place in the afternoon of Saturday, March 22 where
Alpha Phi welcomed 227 new members, 27 of which were alumnae initiates. There
was a Delta Tau reunion hosted at the home of alumna Shawn DePierri Miller
later that evening. On Sunday, March 23, the Installation Banquet was held with
over 600 in attendance, including four LSU administrators, the LSU Panhellenic
Council, members of the Alpha Phi International Executive Board, Alpha Phi
Foundation Board of Directors, the Extension Team Lead and numerous Delta Tau
alumnae. The LSU chapter presented a $1,000 check to Girls on the Run of
Greater Baton Rouge on behalf of Alpha Phi Foundation.
Alumna Deana Gage (Gamma Iota-Texas Tech), Team Lead for LSU
shared, "Initiating 227 new members into Alpha Phi was only one of the
highlights of a wonderful weekend in Baton Rouge. It was so exciting to have
alumnae, parents and friends from across the nation join with us in celebrating
the re-installation of Delta Tau. We are so grateful for the support that they
and all of the LSU Greek community have provided to us throughout the
colonization and installation process."
Alpha Phi was accepted to colonize at the University of
Ottawa in November 2013 by the local sorority Kappa Zeta Psi. Installation
events began on Friday, March 28, 2014, with the Court of Ivy ceremony. On
Saturday, March 29, Initiation took place welcoming 56 initiates, nine of which
were alumnae. An Installation Banquet took place on Sunday, March 30 with
representatives from Alpha Phi's Extension Team, International Executive Board
and Executive Office. The chapter presented a $1,000 donation on behalf of
Alpha Phi Foundation to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute's new Women's
Since the University of Ottawa is a
bilingual campus, International Executive Board President Linda Boland (Gamma
Kappa-CSU/Long Beach) shared the following at the Installation Banquet: "l
s'agit d'un événement extraordinaire et un moment de fierté pour notre
Fraternité [This is an extraordinary event and a proud moment for our
Alpha Phi looks forward to the continued growth of both chapters
and congratulates its newest members at both LSU and Ottawa.
