2010 Heart to Heart Grant recipients Oregon Health and Science University Foundation Congratulations to The Oregon Health and Science University Foundation which has been chosen to receive a $50,000 Heart to Heart Grant. OHSU will use this award to fund a pilot study examining blood components and genetic factors linked with Microvascular Dysfunction. We believe that this will be a landmark study in the field of Microvasular Dysfunction and will greatly contribute to current knowledge of chest pain in women. The Alpha Phi Foundation could be transforming what is known about heart disease in women. Greater Boston Division of the American Heart Association Congratulations to The Greater Boston Division of the American Heart Association which has been chosen to receive a $25,000 Heart to Heart Grant. The AHA’s project is a new year-long, multi-pronged collaboration connecting the power of the, “Go Red for Women” movement and grassroots influence of, “The Family Van”, a mobile health out reach and screening program, with goals to: increase awareness of heart disease as the number one killer of women, encourage women to take action steps to improve their health, provide one-on-one education to those most at risk for heart disease, and increase access to screening and care to those most at risk for heart disease.
Supporting Worthy ProgramsFor over 50 years, Alpha Phi has focused on women's cardiac health as a philanthropic priority. Through its annual Heart to Heart Grant, the Alpha Phi Foundation helps to fund research and educational programs that support women's cardiac health. As a result of these efforts, health care professionals and women everywhere are learning more about the causes, prevention and treatment of heart disease – the number one killer of women. Each year the Foundation accepts nominations for the Alpha Phi Foundation Heart to Heart Grant. Collegiate chapters, alumnae chapters or individual members can nominate a local heart project for this award. We also allow related projects to self-nominate. Through your personal connections or previous charity work, you may know of an organization making significant contributions to cardiac care. You can also identify organizations in your community for the Heart to Heart Grant by calling your local hospital’s development office. ![]()
