Heart to Heart GrantThe 2010 Heart to Heart Grant application is now available. Please click here to download the application. All applications must be postmarked by December 1, 2009 in order to be considered. Please contact Missy Wagasy Moody at mmoody@alphaphi.org with any questions. 2009 Heart to Heart Grant recipientCongratulations to the Women’s Heart Program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill the 2009 Heart to Heart Grant recipient. The award will allow the Women’s Heart Program to go into the schools (Chapel Hill-Carrboro and Orange County) and screen all female employees for cardiovascular disease. Each participant will have the opportunity to sit down and go over their test results with the UNC medical staff, receive a pedometer and walking log, test results sheet, and referrals into the health care system when necessary. The events will be staffed by volunteers so all the money is used directly to educate/test the patients. The Women's Heart Program at UNC Heart Center seeks to educate, identify and treat (if necessary) women of all ages at risk for cardiovascular disease. Every year, nearly one and a half million women die in the United States from events related to the cardiovascular system. Cardiovascular disease is now the leading cause of death among women throughout the nation.2008 Cardiac Care Award recipientCongratulations to Events of the Heart of New York, NY the

Supporting Worthy ProgramsFor nearly 50 years, Alpha Phi has focused on women's cardiac health as a philanthropic priority. Through its annual Heart to Heart Grant, the Alpha Phi Foundation helps to fund research and educational programs that support women's cardiac health. As a result of these efforts, health care professionals and women everywhere are learning more about the causes, prevention and treatment of heart disease – the number one killer of women. Each year the Foundation accepts nominations for the Alpha Phi Foundation Heart to Heart Grant. Collegiate chapters, alumnae chapters or individual members can nominate a local heart project for this award. We also allow related projects to self-nominate. Through your personal connections or previous charity work, you may know of an organization making significant contributions to cardiac care. You can also identify organizations in your community for the Heart to Heart Grant by calling your local hospital’s development office. Other project ideas:
