Scholarship Program Information
1. Eligibility: Any initiated Alpha Phi member, who
complies with the Constitution and Bylaws, Policies and
Procedures, and other governing documents of the
Fraternity, has met the Fraternity and Chapter financial
obligations, including payments of International alumnae
dues for alumnae members, and who will be enrolled in an
undergraduate or graduate degree/certificate program is
eligible to apply for an Alpha Phi Foundation
Scholarship. Members of the Foundation Board of
Directors, Foundation staff and family members may not
apply.
2.
Award Process: The scholarship committee members read
and evaluate applications based on the applicant’s
scholastic record, service to Alpha Phi and the
community, campus involvement, an alumnae
recommendation, and a non-Alpha Phi recommendation.
Scholarship recipients are then recommended by the
Foundation’s Program Manager to the Alpha Phi Foundation
Board of Directors for approval of expenditures.
3.
Program Process: (a) Applicants will be notified via
e-mail when application has been received at the
Foundation Office. (b) Applicants will be notified of
their scholarship status in August by mail to the
provided permanent mailing address. If applicant’s
permanent mailing address changes prior to notification,
please notify the Foundation office directly. (c)
Scholarship recipient award checks will be mailed in
September.
Graduate
Applicant Requirements:
1. Complete All 9 Sections
of Graduate Application (either online or
submit hard copies):
General Contact Information; Academic Information;
Leadership, Volunteerism, and Activity Information;
Essay; Alpha Phi Recommendation Form; Non-Alpha Phi
Recommendation Form; Restricted Scholarship
Checklist; Transcripts; and Signature section.
2.
No Attachments Allowed:
resumes, etc.
3. If you are
submitting a hard copy application: mail
original application along with your
transcript and recommendations to the
Foundation Office. Make a copy of
completed application for your
reference. The postmark deadline for
scholarship application submission is
March 31, 2010.
4. Official Transcript(s)
and
Recommendation letters: can be
mailed directly or e-mailed to the
Foundation Office. Transcripts and
recommendation letters must be kept
sealed and must be postmarked by March
31, 2010. There will be no exceptions.
Tips for a Successful Application:
♥ Start Early:
begin
filling out your application at least one month ahead of
the postmark deadline (March 31, 2010) to handle any
unexpected problems.
♥
Type
essays:
Essays
must be typed, but may be attached to the sheet provided.
♥ Check
Spelling and Grammar: proofread entire application to
avoid mistakes. Please pay attention to proper spelling,
grammar, punctuation, and capitalization.
