Reception for the 2008 Greek
Congressional Visits. |

Approximately 275 student leaders, Greek professional staff, and
board members convened in Washington to lobby for the
Collegiate Housing and Infrastructure Act
on April 12th – 16th, 2008. With
over 400 appointments to visit Senators and Representatives, the
Greek lobbying teams spent a day gaining the support of these
officials to help make our houses safer and make college more
affordable for students.
Before the Visit Day, we have a bipartisan team
of 172 House sponsors and 35 Senate sponsors of the
110th Congress. We are awaiting the
results of our lobbying efforts for the latest
number of sponsors. Join in our efforts by
writing letters to your elected
officials and join the Capital Fraternal
Caucus at

Collegiate
Housing and Infrastructure Act of 2007:
H.R. 643 and S.638
Passage of Senate Bill S.638, the Collegiate Housing
and Infrastructure Act of 2007 and corresponding
House Bill H.R. 643, would allow fraternity and
sorority foundations to make tax-deductible
financial contributions for infrastructure
improvements to meeting and dining areas in chapter
houses in the same way that the tax code currently
allows colleges and universities to use
tax-deductible contributions to improve
university-owned student housing on campus.
This legislation would allow the Alpha Phi
Foundation to award grants for safety improvements
to chapter houses in addition to grants designated
for educational purposes.
Write your elected state officials. Ask your
congressman to support H.R. 643 and your state's
U.S. Senators to support S.638.
