Job Title:                Alumnae Chapter President

Reports to:       Alumnae Membership Coordinator (volunteer) and 

                        Program Manager, Alumnae Membership (staff)

Status:              Volunteer - Part-time

Location:          Remote, in specific geographic area

Position Summary:

Alumnae Chapters have been instrumental in strengthening the Alpha Phi network since the organization welcomed its first official group in Chicago and Boston in 1889.  This key volunteer position serves as an advocate for lifetime engagement in Alpha Phi.  Alumnae Chapter Presidents serve as the official representatives of Alpha Phi in their area.  They contribute to the success and growth of Alpha Phi by leading, planning and executing activities in a geographic area which allow alumnae to connect with each other and Alpha Phi International.  Chapters vary in size from 5 to over 100 members.  

The Alumnae Department staff and Regional Team volunteers are committed to helping each chapter succeed!!

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Represent the alumnae chapter and Alpha Phi in local area
  • Facilitate business meetings of the chapter and Executive Committee
  • Help establish the direction and goals of the chapter; ensures that all officers and committees stay on target with their specific tasks
  • Maintain contact with the Regional Alumnae Membership Coordinator (AMC) and Executive Office (EO)
  • Appoint Nominations Committee and any appointed offices
  • Participate in training opportunities including, but not limited to, Convention, Alumnae Chapter College, Regional Conference and audio-conference calls
  • Represent chapter at biennial Convention as official delegate
  • Ensure chapter report is submitted on annual basis as well as notify EO of changes to officer roster and member contact information when changes occur
  • Assist planning and participation in a Founders' Day program sometime during the month of October
  • Educate members about the Alpha Phi Foundation and strive for one chapter donation per year



  • Alumnae chapter or other volunteer organization leadership experience


  • Enthusiasm for Alpha Phi and generally aware of, and has interest in current issues, trends and events pertaining to Alpha Phi
  • Alpha Phi International Policies & Procedures
  • Alumnae Chapter Health Indicators and general chapter operations
  • Alpha Phi online resources, including "Members Only" and social media applications

  • Flexible, proactive, effective managerial skills and willingness to work in collaboration with others



  • Must be member in good standing as defined by the Fraternity's Constitution and Bylaws
  • Support the Alpha Phi Foundation with an annual tax-deductible gift as you are able
  • Estimated time commitment of 10-15 hours per month
