She is very passionate about the empowerment of women and girls world-wide and serves as a board member of the Circle of Sisterhood Foundation.  Advancers of this cause raise money in order to lift women and girls out of poverty through education. She has served the Foundation as Vice Chair since 2010.

Karyn is a long-time, committed supporter of her sorority, Sigma Kappa, and has volunteered regularly as an alumna.  She completed a two-year term as a member of Sigma Kappa's national council as the national vice president for programming (2008-2010).

Karyn believes in contributing to the interfraternal community and has served as a volunteer for Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors every year since 1986.  She served as a board member of the Association for two years as the Mid-American Vice President (1989, 1990).  She has also served a three year term as a director for the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors Foundation (2004-2007).  She was the first female fraternity services staff member of the North-American Interfraternity Conference and worked there from 1990-1995.

Outside of the fraternal movement, Karyn is a member of the Diversity & Inclusion Committee of the American Society of Association Executives and a member of the Central Indiana Chapter of the American Society of Training & Development.

She is married to her best friend (and husband) Steve and serves as Girl Scout Cookie Mom/Assistant Troop Leader to her 9-year old daughter Skyler's Brownie Troop.
