Spring 2014 Installations

In March 2014, Alpha Phi International Fraternity celebrated the installation of the Iota Upsilon chapter at University of Ottawa and the re-installation of the Delta Tau chapter at Louisiana State University.

In June 2012, Alpha Phi was invited to recolonize at LSU. The installation weekend kicked off on Friday, March 21, 2014, with the Court of Ivy ceremony at the Kappa Delta chapter room, followed by a reception for Delta Taus hosted by Alpha Phi Foundation at The Club at Union Square. The initiation ceremony took place in the afternoon of Saturday, March 22 where Alpha Phi welcomed 227 new members, 27 of which were alumnae initiates. There was a Delta Tau reunion hosted at the home of alumna Shawn DePierri Miller later that evening. On Sunday, March 23, the Installation Banquet was held with over 600 in attendance, including four LSU administrators, the LSU Panhellenic Council, members of the Alpha Phi International Executive Board, Alpha Phi Foundation Board of Directors, the Extension Team Lead and numerous Delta Tau alumnae. The LSU chapter presented a $1,000 check to Girls on the Run of Greater Baton Rouge on behalf of Alpha Phi Foundation.

Alumna Deana Gage (Gamma Iota-Texas Tech), Team Lead for LSU shared, "Initiating 227 new members into Alpha Phi was only one of the highlights of a wonderful weekend in Baton Rouge. It was so exciting to have alumnae, parents and friends from across the nation join with us in celebrating the re-installation of Delta Tau. We are so grateful for the support that they and all of the LSU Greek community have provided to us throughout the colonization and installation process."

Alpha Phi was accepted to colonize at the University of Ottawa in November 2013 by the local sorority Kappa Zeta Psi. Installation events began on Friday, March 28, 2014, with the Court of Ivy ceremony. On Saturday, March 29, Initiation took place welcoming 56 initiates, nine of which were alumnae. An Installation Banquet took place on Sunday, March 30 with representatives from Alpha Phi's Extension Team, International Executive Board and Executive Office. The chapter presented a $1,000 donation on behalf of Alpha Phi Foundation to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute's new Women's Heart Centre.

Since the University of Ottawa is a bilingual campus, International Executive Board President Linda Boland (Gamma Kappa-CSU/Long Beach) shared the following at the Installation Banquet: "l s'agit d'un événement extraordinaire et un moment de fierté pour notre Fraternité [This is an extraordinary event and a proud moment for our Fraternity]."

Alpha Phi looks forward to the continued growth of both chapters and congratulates its newest members at both LSU and Ottawa.
