Alpha Phi News

Celebrating 100 Years in Canada
Alpha Phi became an international organization with the formation of the Toronto (Xi) collegiate chapter in 1906. To celebrate this momentous occasion, all collegiate and alumnae chapters – especially those in Canada – are invited to join a year-long celebration of 100 years of Alpha Phi in Canada.

The events kicked off with a tea at the Xi chapter house on Dec. 4, 2005, (Xi’s 99th birthday) with over 50 sisters in attendance. The final event will be a gala dinner/dance/auction at Casa Loma in Toronto on November 10, 2006.   Tickets will be available for purchase beginning in the summer.

In honor of our Canadian sisters, we are very excited to announce the creation of an Alpha Phi Foundation scholarship for members of all Alpha Phi chapters in Canada or Canadian Alpha Phis – the Canadian Centennial Scholarship.   The goal is to award the first scholarship in 2006

We ask that all sisters consider making a donation of $100 in honor of Canada’s 100th anniversary. Donations can be made online or by check to the Alpha Phi Foundation, 1930 Sherman Avenue, Evanston, IL, 60201. All donations should note that they are for the Canadian Centennial Scholarship

Those interested in receiving up-to-date information on centennial celebrations throughout Canada should contact Ashley Haugh (Xi-Toronto) with your current e-mail address and phone number. Please make sure to include your full name (including maiden name) and chapter

If you are interested in organizing an event in your area or for additional information, contact Ashley or another member of the 100 Years in Canada committee.
